Andy Gustafson

Most Valuable Player of the baseball team and the Coaches Award winner in football, Andy Gustafson was an excellent outfielder in baseball and an offensive lineman in football. He helped the baseball team challenge for its first NCAA bid since 1958 in his senior season.

Gustafson hit .413 with 21 runs scored, five home runs and 17 runs driven in for the 1975 baseball team, helping the squad to a 16-4 record. While they were denied a NCAA bid, the team established the program record for wins. He hit a solid .273 as a sophomore right fielder and then was the leading hitter on both the 1974 and 1975 teams, hitting a career best .440 in 1974. He helped the baseball team to three consecutive winning seasons.

In football, he also played on teams which recorded three straight winning seasons including the 7-2 1975 team which helped set the stage for the program’s first NCAA appearance the following year.

A hospitality executive in South Carolina, Andy and his wife Susan are the parents of three children.
